IP Classifier

A site that has backlinks coming from the same subnet of IPs, raises a major red flag for search engines. Their algorithms see this as a potential attempt by webmasters to spam the search engines by manipulating their back link portfolio. Search engines look for this type of “linking incest” by checking the Class C Block IP Address – or subnet address – of a set of links to see if they are coming from the same server. If they are, the website with the backlinks could be hit with major penalties, whether it was done intentionally or not.

You can avoid this potential nightmare by using eVisible’s free IP Classifier tool. When you enter a string of URLs, it automatically finds their IPs and categorizes them by server. Webmasters can use this tool to check their backlinks to make sure that a high number aren’t coming from the same Class C Block IP Address.
